Gardening this Spring Season!
Gardeners are busy during spring. They need to do a lot of things like cleaning, pruning, and planting. You don’t have to overdo the garden preparations. You simply need to perform the tasks that can benefit your garden. To ensure a bountiful and beautiful garden this summer, follow these guidelines.
Clean the yard. After winter, there will be a lot of debris on your yard. You need to rake them all. Cleaning the yard is very important so that the soil can thaw out. When the soil is warm enough, you can put new mulch but make sure that its far from the plants base.
Make the necessary repairs. After winter, check for any cracks on the fences, pathways, and steps. If repairs are needed, do them right away. You can do some repainting tasks.
Shrubs and trees should be pruned. However, you should do this when the shrubs and trees have new leaves. It will be easier to identify the damaged or dead branches. To manage the size of your shrubs, trimming is very important. In the case of huge trees, you should contact a tree company to do the job for you to ensure your safety.
Have a compost pile on your yard so that when spring comes, you can use the compost to nourish your garden soil. Nutrient-rich soil is excellent for gardening. However, if you don’t have a compost, you can start now by using compost tumblers or bins to keep away small animals or rodents.
To ensure optimum plant growth, the topsoil should be rich in nutrients. To stabilize the plants, you can use stakes especially in trees that will serve as support for plants like cucumbers and tomatoes. On the first 2 weeks of the new plants, you should water them frequently.
If you have bird feeders on the yard, you should also clean them. Get rid of damaged plastic or glass feeders to prevent injuries. Wood bird feeders are great because you will simply scrub the debris and dirt and re-place those containing new seeds. Plastic or glass feeders should be disinfected and dried completely. After the feeders have dried, you can now put bird seeds.
Cleaning the yard and preparing the soil may just be simple tasks but not all gardeners are able to do them. Follow these guidelines so that before summer comes, your plants are ready. Gardening this spring season is a very exciting time because nature is regaining its beauty.
