Some people who are interested in gardening are frustrated because they don’t have enough yard space. If this is the case, you can always try container gardening. Take gardening indoors through the use of various containers.
Drainage holes under the containers are important if you want to have healthy plants. You can use plant boxes aside from the smaller containers. Growing plants require enough space. You need to ensure that they get adequate sunlight from your terrace or balcony. All plants need sunlight for food production and you should not forget about it.
Since the soil is limited, nutrients of the soil are consumed by the plants quickly. You can use manure stakes and pellets whenever you water the plants to ensure that the soil is always nourished. Plants absorb the nutrients better if you put the fertilizer when watering. Water and sunlight are essential factors for plants to flourish. You should avoid missing a day without providing adequate water and sunlight. If this happens frequently, the plant will die. Choose only the plants that are suitable indoors. You should be extra careful when choosing the plants so that you will not get frustrated just in case the plants don’t grow healthy or worse, when they die. You can try planting African violets, creeping fig, cyclamens, Boston ferns, and philodendrons.
You need to ensure that the room has proper lighting. If plants are dark-leaved, then you won’t need much of electrical lighting but if the leaves are lighter, you need to provide adequate lighting facilities.
Many gardeners over-water their plants indoors. This can lead to rotting of the plant roots. Plants have various watering demands. Some plants need more water than others. Before you pour that water over the plant, do you know your plants water requirements?
To ensure plant growth, the pot should be clean, attractive, and of good quality. This can prevent plant infection which often causes plant death.
Humidity is another vital factor in indoor gardening. Check for the air moisture inside the room where plants are placed. You need to inspect the leaves for dust and other particles. Spray the leaves to get rid of the dust.
Fertilizing the soil is very important. Before or during planting, you can mix the fertilizer to the soil. In a couple of weeks, you can introduce liquid fertilizers. Regularly feeding the soil of the garden is necessary to ensure plant growth. Gardening is not a very difficult task and if you want, you can try it out.
