It was on a long weekend trip to Amsterdam that I first discovered patio awnings. I was visiting my brother for a few days and the weather was truly wondeful. Each morning I had breakfast on the patio covered by a beautiful orange canopy and I was really impressed.

As soon as my brother discovered how much I loved the patio awning he was happy to show me that it was a motorised retractable awning and that he had it installed shortly after he bought the house.

Scheduling Your Greenhouse Planting

Scheduling growing cycles for a greenhouse will obviously vary depending on your climate. No matter where you live, you will have two main growing seasons, a cool season and a warm season.

Scheduling your planting is necessary for the most abundant harvests. It can be difficult to plan for months in the future when all you want to do it get started. Preplanning is worth the effort though, and will pay off in the long run.

On your calendar, work backwards. Count the days from the earliest to the latest you can transplant outdoors. You can then figure out within what range of days you can begin the seeds in your greenhouse. Use this as your guide to sowing your seeds. Transplanting fruits and vegetables can be difficult if the plant is too mature. Be sure your timing is geared to your climate. The shock of transplanting can damage the plant beyond repair, or at the very least stunt its ability to produce. Your hard work can go to waste if you don’t preplan.
